Asus is certainly known for making great smartphones and laptops, but this time the company has announced a cute robot for home that can read stories for your kids and look after the elderly.

Unveiled at the Computex 2016 in Taiwan, Zenbo is highly affordable and will cost you $599. The company claims that this cute robot is capable of controlling smart home devices and is less expensive comparative to other household robots as the robot has no humanoid features like arms.

Asus’s Zenbo boasts much functionality that can do everything from controlling your home appliances to look after your elders.

For your kids, it can be best mate! It can play with your kids and tell them stories along with displaying associated images. With the inclusion of high-quality stereo sound system, it can play various songs and dance with your kids along the music.

It makes learning fun with several built-in educational games and an interactive encyclopedia.

Zenbo can be programmed to understand spoken commands and can also be connected to home appliances like lights, security cameras, and door locks. It is expected to help people remind various things, such as exercise schedules and doctor’s appointments.

Asus said Zenbo “helps to bridge the digital divide between generations” as it allows elders to make video calls and use social networks using simple voice commands.

The robot can also keep a virtual eye in case of emergencies – such as falls. It immediately responds to the situations and notifies other family members via calling them on their smartphones.

After receiving emergency calls from Zenbo, family members can remotely control the robot and make use of its built-in camera to inspect the situation.

This cute robot is also able to make calls, stream movies and TV shows, use social media, read recipes and lot more.

Zenbo is nearly 2ft high and rolls around on wheels. It almost resembles the popular Star Wars robot BB-8. It hosts a display that shows its cute animated face which can be used for making video calls or to stream movies.

Asus says Zenbo is friendly and proficient home robot aimed at providing assistance, entertainment and company to families. The company said Zenbo is supposed to deal with the needs of each family member in this “ubiquitous computing era”.

Apart from this robot, Asus has also announced ZenBook 3 at the event that weights just 910gms and is 12mm thick.  The ZenBook 3 gets the same type-C USB connection that the iPhone maker is using in its Macbooks. Asus’s Zenbook 3 needs a fan for cooling the processor, but the company claims that its 3mm fan invent is the world’s thinnest one.
