Android 6.0 aka Marshmallow made its presence felt with the launch of Marshmallow-powered Google Nexus 5X and 6P on October 5.
Google, during a late September event in San Francisco, announced its Marshmallow update plans, and thankfully the update is now available for some devices. Let’s walk through a few devices that can now be updated to the Android 6.0.
Google Nexus
Google’s latest Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were the first devices to be rolled out with Android 6.0 onboard.
Google is providing its Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over the air) update for other Nexus variants and the process will complete in stages. Some carriers will receive the update sooner while others will have to wait a bit longer to get the update. Google has made it clear that the update will not be available for Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.
Following Google Nexus devices are set to receive the update:

  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus Player

Meanwhile, HTC made an official tweet to disclose its list of devices that will receive the Marshmallow update.
The list has thrown a shocker at HTC One M7 owners since the gadget will not be receiving the update because the company thinks that it’s kind of old and out-of-context for Android 6.0. HTC One M8 GPE will receive the update in October while HTC One M9 and HTC One M8 will receive the update by the fall of this year.
Following is the list of HTC devices set to get the update:

Apart from the devices we discussed, OnePlus, Asus and ZTE will also be updating their specific devices.
OnePlus is currently busy with its own OxygenOS and wouldn’t start the update process anytime before 2016. OnePlus 2 will be most likely the first of their devices to be updated with Android Marshmallow.
Asus Zenfone models are currently running Android Lollipop. So, we can expect Zenfone devices to be updated to Android 6.0.
ZTE’s prolific models such as the ZTE Axon and ZTE Blade S6 will be its first few devices to get the Android Marshmallow update.
However there’s nothing like sad news if you haven’t seen your mobile in any of the lists above since the Marshmallow is here to stay.
Various carriers and mobile makers have just started the update processes, so other popular models will also be covered sometime soon.
